General Information

For close to 50 years, ISM has brought together federal, state, local and private sector thought leaders to discuss success factors, innovative service delivery practices, emerging issues and key technology trends across a broad variety of health and human services programs. 

ISM 2016 features several plenary sessions with nationally-recognized speakers providing thought provoking insight into shared challenges as well as numerous breakout sessions showcasing state and local government best practices and solutions, as well as presentations from industry experts and federal officials. 

Who Attends ISM?

The short answer is that ISM has something for everyone who is interested in the effective use of technology to proactively support the mission of HHS programs. With virtually every state, and U.S. territories and HHS federal agencies represented, the 2016 ISM Conference offers unparalleled networking opportunities.

Conference Information


The 2016 ISM Annual Conference will be held in the Phoenix Convention Center, West Hall starting Sunday, September 18 and ending at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21. There will be a post-conference federal session from 4:15 PM – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21 

Highlights include:

  • Sunday: State & Local Forum, Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall and the Annual Golf Outing

  • Monday: Opening Session, ISM Awards Luncheon, breakout sessions and a light networking reception

  • Tuesday: General Session and breakout sessions

  • Wednesday: ISM Business meeting, breakout sessions, general sessions and panel discussions

ISM offers Fellowships to defray some or all of the cost of traveling to and attending the conference forstate and local attendees.  Fellowship applications are now being accepted. Click here to apply.

Golf Scramble

The Golf Scramble is an optional event (at additional cost) will be held on Sunday, September 18 at the award winning Arizona State University’s Karsten Golf Course from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. When registering for the conference, don’t forget to register for the Sunday Golf Outing. Click here to register now.
